Western University (London, Ontario) is seeking an Ombudsperson.
As the Ombudsperson, you will play a vital role in addressing student concerns, resolving disputes, and contributing to the continuous improvement of university policies and practices.
In this impactful role, the Ombudsperson will:
Lead a confidential, impartial and independent office, helping students determine their options and empowering them to pursue constructive resolutions to challenges they face.
Be a trusted resource for students, responding to inquiries and investigating complaints of unfairness.
Have the authority to access the necessary information and individuals to thoroughly investigate and navigate the resolution of concerns.
Provide valuable recommendations to address individual situations or systemic issues, ensuring university practices are clear, equitable, and effective.
Help students navigate their options and resolve issues informally, aiming to find solutions before problems escalate.
Support a fair, transparent, and inclusive environment, contributing to a positive and productive experience for all students.

About You
As the ideal candidate you are a dynamic and experienced professional who is passionate about supporting post-secondary students and fostering positive campus environments. You hold a Master’s Degree, preferably in Higher Education or a related field, bringing both academic knowledge and practical expertise to the role. You have a Membership in good standing with the Association of Canadian College and University Ombudspersons (ACCUO), reflecting a commitment to maintaining the highest professional standards in the field.
With at least seven years of progressive experience in post-secondary settings, you will have a strong background in counseling, conflict resolution and complaint investigation. Expertise in mediation techniques is essential, as the role demands a clear and effective approach to navigating complex situations and facilitating productive conversations helping find mutually agreeable solutions and strengthening the campus community.
